Purpose

The Frances & Sachio Semmoto Foundation aims to provide financial assistance to talented students of demonstrated financial need from Asia Pacific nations, who seek to pursue postsecondary education in Japan.

Scholarship Program (1)

Length and amount of scholarship: ¥120,000 per month for 12 month

●Number of scholarships available: 5

●Level of study: (1) Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors enrolled in a regular undergraduate course at the following designated universities
(2) Students who are expected to enter the master’s program of the following designated graduate schools from April 2024.
(3) First-year students enrolled in a master’s degree program at one of the following designated graduate schools who expect to continue enrolling in a master’s degree program from April 2025 to March 2026. Those who are expected to continue their enrollment in the master’s course of the following designated graduate school from April 2025 to March 2026.

●Designated universities: Osaka University, Ochanomizu University, Kyushu University, Kyoto University, Keio University, Kobe University, Akita International University, International Christian University, Sophia University, University of Tsukuba, University of Tokyo, Tokyo University of Science (formerly Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo Medical and Dental University), Tokyo University of the Arts, Tokyo University of Science, Tohoku University, Nagoya University, Nara Women’s University, Hitotsubashi University, Hokkaido University, Yokohama National University, Yokohama City University, Waseda University

●Eligible countries: Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, US

Scholarship Program (2)

Length and amount of scholarship: ¥50,000 per month for 6 month

●Number of scholarships available: 2

●Level of study: Japanease language school in Japan

●Eligible countries: Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, US
